This afternoon, Ching Du successfully defended her PhD dissertation, The Transformation of Conjugal Partnerships: Union Transitions and Trajectories in Canada. Her research investigates the transformations of conjugal partnerships in Canada throughout the past several decades and risk factors associated with these partnership transformations. Partnership trajectories she studied include "one-marriage trajectory", "two-marriage trajectory" and "serial-cohabitation trajectory." She examined factors such as socioeconomic prospects, family structure, religiosity, and regional differences between Quebec and the rest of Canada.
