Mead to Boas - July 17, 1925:
Dear Dr. Boas,
Thank you so much for your letter of further advices for my work. I am going to try very hard to make a success of it in every way.
This morning I received a letter from Dr. Goddard asking me whether I would be interested in the position at the Museum for which he says you suggested my name. I was not quite sure from his letter whether you thought it would be advisable for me to accept it, or whether you simply thought it was probable I would. Before answering Dr. Goddard with a final expression of preference I would like very much to know what your advice is in the matter. The only alternative I have after a possible additional year of the fellowship, is a problematical subsidy from the Committee on Sex Research of the Research Council. I told you, I believe that Wissler suggested this as a possibility. Of course this Museum position would not preclude some research along those lines. I am confident that I could handle the necessary detail of the routine work and still get some research done also. Will you please tell me what your advices on the matter.
Very sincerely,
Margaret
