Sean Waite - Associate Professor

Undergraduate Chair, Sociology
PhD, Sociology, McGill University

Sean Waite examines how gender and sexuality shape life course experiences, including human capital attainment, partnership formation, occupational choice, and their effects on employment and earnings. His research primarily focuses on the Canadian context, using quantitative methods and administrative data to better understand the experiences of non heterosexual people in Canada. He is also interested in the strengths and limitations of different ways gender and sexuality are measured in empirical research, as well as the theoretical assumptions that underpin these approaches.
