In Memoriam: Tom Murphy
Tom Murphy died on Saturday, July 18/15 and we all will miss him very much. Tom received his B.A. and M.A. from the University of New Brunswick and before joining our department in the fall of 1988 he was actively involved with his research about various issues concerning agricultural production in eastern Canada. After joining our department, Tom’s focus shifted to lecturing and he quickly acquired the deserved reputation of being one of our most highly regarded professors. He taught at all levels of the department’s undergraduate program in the areas of sociological theory, social psychology and white-collar crime. In addition to his strong commitment to teaching, Tom was actively involved on various committees of UWOFA during his years with us. He was a valued member of our community and his warmth, wit, and optimism will be missed by us all.
