Long-time colleague and friend Peter Stemp died on April 13th 2014. Peter Stemp was born in Toronto in the 1948. He completed his Honours Bachelor degree in Sociology at Western in 1974, and completed MA degrees in both Sociology and Philosophy at Western in 1976. He immediately joined the department as an instructor teaching courses in subjects like Mass Society between 1976 and 1980. He then spent two years working as a Research Associate at Western’s Health Care Research Unit, before returning to the department as a lecturer in 1982. He taught continuously in the department for the next 26 years, until his retirement in 2008. Peter taught at least 14 different courses at Western, from Introductory Sociology to Advanced Methodology and Social Theory, and from Social Psychology to Advertising & Society. He was a popular and engaging teacher, and a warm, good-humoured and well-respected colleague. He will be missed.
