Modules - Degrees Offered

The possible module combinations depend on the degree in which you’re enrolled. Below are links to Academic Calendar descriptions of each module as well as program checklists to download to help you plan your course selection each year.

Honours Specialization in Sociology

The Honours Specialization module is for students who have a strong interest in Sociology, and who are considering entering graduate studies in Sociology. The Honours Specialization also prepares students for studies in Teacher’s College, Law School, Business School, and other professional vocations.

Enrollment in this module is limited. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee that students wishing to transfer into this module will be offered enrollment.

Admission Requirements:

Completion of first-year requirements with no failures. Students must have an average of at least 70% in 3.0 principal courses, including 1.0 from: Sociology 1020, Sociology 1021E, Sociology 1025A/B, Sociology 1026F/G, Sociology 1027A/B, plus 2.0 additional courses, with no mark in these principal courses below 60%.

Module/Program Information:

Specialization in Sociology

The Specialization in Sociology is a non-honors module for students who are interested in Sociology.

Admission Requirements:

Completion of first-year requirements, including Sociology 1020 or Sociology 1021E with a mark of at least 60%.

Module/Program Information:

Major in Sociology

The Major in Sociology module is for students who are interested in Sociology, and who want to take a variety of other courses to round out their University degree.

Admission Requirements:

Completion of first-year requirements, including 1.0 from: Sociology 1020, Sociology 1021E, Sociology 1025A/B, Sociology 1026F/G, Sociology 1027A/B with a mark in each Sociology course of at least 60%.

Module/Program Information:

Minor in Sociology

The Minor in Sociology module is for students who are interested in Sociology, and who want to take a variety of other courses to round out their University degree.

Admission Requirements:

Completion of first-year requirements, including 1.0 from: Sociology 1020, Sociology 1021E, Sociology 1025A/B, Sociology 1026F/G, Sociology 1027A/B with a mark in each Sociology course of at least 60%.

Double Major in Sociology and Criminology

The Double Major in Sociology and Criminology module is designed for students who want to study two or more areas, and get a general understanding of these fields.

Admission Requirements:

Completion of first-year requirements, including 1.0 from: Sociology 1020, Sociology 1021E, Sociology 1025A/B, Sociology 1026F/G, Sociology 1027A/B with a mark in each Sociology course of at least 60%.
