The network's main objective is to study the determinants and dynamics of
population change and the associated consequences for the collective destiny of
Canadian society. Four broad areas of research are envisioned:
- Low fertility in the context of changing family and work
obligations
- Immigration, internal migration, and distribution of Canada’s
population
- Labour force, aging, and life-course flexibility
- Mortality, morbidity, and the changing nature of the elderly
population
Some issues and themes that cut across these areas of research are:
- Immigration and its impact on the economy and population growth
- Population aging and factors associated with youth, labour force, and
retirement
- Equity and cohesion, including impact of population change on equity by
gender, over generations and space, and across population groups
For more details, see
Cluster Research as discussed in the Cluster Concept Paper.

Planning Workshop.
