Mead to Boas - Jan. 6, 1926:
Dear Dr. Boas:
I am enclosing the report to the Council which I discussed in my air mail letter to you. I am also enclosing a second letter to Dr. Lillie which is self-explanatory. Would you be good enough to forward it to him with your advices. I am quite sure that you intended me to spend the whole time in fieldwork, but as the matter is so specifically stated in the announcement of the Board, I do not feel that I can disregard it. If would be the most flagrant wastefulness to spend any of the time in working up results. On the other hand, if they insisted upon my doing so, I should probably go to New Zealand or Australia rather than attempting anything in this climate.
All the gossip I have heard reports you as having benefited tremendously from your trip. That is very good news.
Very sincerely,
Margaret Mead
