Boas to Mead - Feb. 24, 1926:

My dear Margaret:

I enclose a copy of the reply I received in regard to your work. It is of course quite obvious that under the present conditions you want to continue your work in the field as long as possible.

Goddard spoke to me a few days ago about your wish to attend the Americanists Congress which is going to be held in the second half of September in Rome and I am quite sure the Museum will want you to do so; it is for their own interest.

In all matters of this kind I think it is best to consider the general situation and not be troubled too much by the letter of the law.

With kindest regards,

Yours very sincerely,

Franz Boas
