Mead to Boas - December 13, 1925:
Dear Dr. Boas,
This is simply a note to report that I am continuing to pursue adolescent girls about this very hot island. By the next mail I shall send you a copy of the report which I made to the Research Council. I have not in any wise altered my plans so as to make a showier report though that might have been possible. But I have planned my work here on a six month basis and even if the first month of straightening out rank, relationship, age and such matters makes but a poor showing it seems hardly ethical to go after material which would be more sensational but out of order.
I am most depressingly inefficient and slow in this climate but at that I can work more hours than most white people here so I suppose the climate might be said to agree with me. It’s a churlish climate at best.
Very sincerely yours,
Margaret Mead
