A Textbook for Modgen Users

Mogden is a generic language that allows for the creation of dynamic models of microsimulation, based upon the C++ object-oriented programming language. Mogden is very effective, but as of today, the documentation is not sufficient to enable new users to easily master its functions. The objective of this proposal is to overcome this limitation by enabling easier apprenticeship to Mogden. More precisely, the objective of this project is to make available, free of charge, a book and some prototype models that will enable the future users of Mogden to know its structure and its different functions in a context that is familiar to demographers. This book can be the basis of the formal teaching of microsimulation within the framework of a course on demography, but it will also allow users to learn on their own the structure and main functions of Mogden.
