After 43 years at Western, Professor Paul C. Whitehead is retiring. Professor Whitehead received his PhD from the University of Massachusetts in 1969. After a brief stint at Dalhousie University, he joined the faculty at Western. He served as chair of the department between 1976 and 1981. Dr. Whitehead is an expert in program and policy evaluation, criminology, social problems, addictions and mental health. He has written 14 books and monographs, edited 5 books, and is author of 106 articles and book chapters; he has also produced scores of other research reports through his academic career. Professor Whitehead has also taught generations of undergraduate and graduate students, and contributed much to the life of the department. Thank-you Paul for all you have done for Western Sociology over the years. We hope you enjoy your retirement.
