The Revised Policy on senior course requirements (courses numbered 3000-4999) for an Honors Bachelor Degree - Double Major will not be in effect for students registered in a sociology or criminology program until September 2011. Watch for further details later this year.Program Changes
2010
Beginning in September 2010, Sociology 4405F/G Seminar in Sociological Theory will be required for 4th year students in the Honors Specialization in Sociology.
Changes to the Major in the Sociology of Health and Aging give students the flexibility to choose from an expanded list of allowed courses.
2009
Beginning in September 2009, the Honors Specialization in Sociology and the Honors Specialization in Criminology will have a new required course: Soc 3404F/G Modern Sociological Theory. This mandatory 3rd year course will replace the former Soc 4404F/G. This change also means that Soc 2240E Survey of Sociological Theory or Soc 2270A Foundations of Social Theory AND Soc 2271B Survey of Contemporary Theory will now be mandatory for Honors Specialization students in 2nd year.
Note: Sociology 4405F/G Seminar in Sociological Theory is another new addition to the Honors Specialization in Sociology. However, it will not be offered this year (2009-2010). Instead, 4th year students will substitute a 0.5 sociology course at the 3000-level or above to meet this requirement. Please see a program checklist Honors Specialization in Sociology for more details.
2008
Beginning in September 2008, Sociology 300a/b Advanced Statistics and 302a/b Research Methodology in Empirical Sociology will no longer be offered by the Department of Sociology. Instead, third year students in an Honors Specialization will be required to complete Sociology 3306A/B Investigating the Social World: Quantitative Methods and Sociology 3307F/G Investigating the Social World: Qualitative Methods.
